Bancroft Park

Lunch with a view? Yes, please!

Located opposite the Deception Bay Library on an elevated block, Bancroft Park offers stunning views of the bay with all the comforts and amenities.

There are plenty of picnic shelters, tables and chairs, BBQs, and a series of wheelchair-friendly boardwalks and wooden ramps leading down to the water.

The central location, and convenience of nearby amenities and transport options, make this leafy park ideal for group meet-ups with friends, solo trips, or family outings.

Park in the accessible parking spaces along Captain Cook Parade and access the undercover areas via a sealed walkway. The main area is a combination of wooden viewing platforms, ramps, and textured concrete surfaces, all of which are suitable for wheelchairs and walkers.

Bring your own picnic and enjoy a scenic lunch at the tables and chairs, including space for mobility devices to move around. Alternatively, you can visit one of the nearby cafés.

Relax and recharge at Deception Bay Library

From Bancroft Park, there is a level crossing which leads directly across the road to the Deception Bay Library. Inside, you will find an electric mobility scooter and wheelchair charging station. Just ask the friendly staff if you need assistance. WIFI access is also available at the library.

Take a step back in time

Another unique feature of Bancroft Park is its plaques, tactile world map, and war memorial for those who may be interested in the defence, nautical and fishing history of the area.

It is also part of the Deception Bay Heritage Trail, which brings to life years’ gone by through a series of sculptural markers and written facts right along the foreshore. Educational and fun - check!
