Sensory Considerations

Tactile:

  • Grass, plants, trees
  • Playground with hard and soft textures (sand flooring and plastic equipment)

Visual:

  • Large bodies of water (lakes with wooden bridge crossings). Please note that lakes are unfenced
  • Birds (ducks, geese, cockatoos etc)
  • Gardens, plants, animals and bushland

Auditory:

  • A popular spot for nature lovers, Centenary Lakes is home to a wide range of birds including cockatoos, ducks, and geese. During breeding season, geese can have a tendency to become aggressive and noisy. This may be a consideration for those with noise sensitivities.
  • While located in the heart of the town centre and close to a main road (Morayfield Road), Centenary Lakes offers a peaceful waterside retreat (includes sounds of water fountains and bird life).

NOTE: Centenary Lakes is used as a venue for community sports and recreational activities, such as orienteering and biking as part of the council’s Healthy & Active program. Noise and crowd levels may increase depending on activities in the park and large sports complex at the rear. There are also bookable areas of the park, where green spaces may be utilised for weddings and other events throughout the year.
