Overlooking the beautiful Bramble Bay, Pelican Park at Clontarf is known for its front-row views of popular water sports, play area with a wheelchair-friendly Liberty Swing, kite flying, and pelican feeding experience.
The main park area, behind the Visitor Information Centre, has plenty of parking and access to a boat ramp. The playground is located to the right of the carpark, past the toilet block and next to the picnic shelter and barbecues.
This park features a wheelchair-accessible swing in a fenced playground area. The key to access the Liberty swing is available from the friendly staff at the Visitor Information Centre on site.
A five-minute walk along the concrete path towards Woody Point will take you to another playground. This pathway is flat and wheelchair-friendly, but remember to bring your hat and sunscreen as it isn’t fully shaded.
The second playground is accessed across a bridge, which passes over a shallow channel. While sealed, this may not be suitable for all wheelchairs and walkers. If your wheelchair and/or walker is not suitable for small to medium inclines, you can easily access this park by taking a short drive around to the other carpark.
Water sports are a popular activity in the open tidal waters of Bramble Bay. There are lots of vantage points from the grass, paths and rocky areas to watch the jet skiers in action.
Aside from being popular with jet skiers, the winds off the bay make the location perfect for kite surfing. The park is also home to the Redcliffe Kite Club who fly their colourful and stunning kites once a month in the park for all to enjoy.
If you’re a fan of our feathered friends, head along to the park at 10.00am for the daily pelican feeding. The pelicans fly in to be hand-fed by the Volunteers at the Visitor Information Centre.
During whale watching season (June to October) you may even spot one of the amazing marine animals on their annual migration along the coastline.
There is a staffed Visitor Information Centre – the Clontarf Visitor Information Centre. Here, you will find uniformed people you can speak to for assistance (white shirt, with the letter ‘i’ for information).
Pelican Park offers grassed areas, good pathways, and plenty of seats and shelters, all in a central and accessible seaside location.

There are a number of cafes dotted along the opposite side of the road (Hornibrook Esplanade). Please make use of the pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights to safely cross this main road, which can get busy during peak times. There is a service station located directly across the road, and an IGA just a few minutes’ drive away.

- Pelican Park is a popular venue with lots on offer, and is located near a busy road. However, there are plenty of quieter, shaded areas for people wanting to sit and relax away from the noise.
- Pelican feeding is an exciting and unique experience. This is performed by staff at 10.00am daily near the Visitor Information Centre. For those who don’t want to participate (due to noise sensitivity or other reasons) this activity only occurs in one part of the park at the allocated time.
NOTE:Pelican Park is used as a venue for local festivals and events throughout the year. Please take note of the Moreton Bay Region Calendar of Events when planning your trip, as it may affect carpark availability, and increase noise levels for those sensitive to sound and/or crowds.
