Woorim Beach, Bribie Island

Woorim Beach at Bribie Island offers accessible beach matting and beach wheelchairs so you can get your feet (or wheels) sandy and look out across the beautiful waters of Moreton Bay.

Start your beach adventure by parking in the large carpark near the Bribie Island Surf Lifesaving Club (opposite Lions Park).

Here, you will find a toilet block with accessible facilities, water fountains, and plenty of shaded picnic tables and bench seats with beach views at Bluey Piva Park.

Two beach wheelchairs are available for free hire from the Bribie Island Surf Lifesaving Club during the beach patrol season (early September to May). These help users to travel across the sand and can be immersed in water.

There are clear pathways between the various buildings and facilities. Beach access is from Access Point 12 at Bluey Piva Park (next to the Surf Club). There is a gentle slope from the top of the beach access point down to the beach.

Blue-coloured accessible beach mats run along the access point, which provide an accessible and stable pathway over the sand. They have been shown to improve access onto the beach for:

  • People using mobility devices (e.g., wheelchairs, walking frames etc.)
  • People with chronic health conditions (e.g., arthritis)
  • Families pushing prams or carts

Please note that while the beach mats are available 24/7 and are maintained on a regular basis, they may have sand on top of them due to strong winds or weather events. The mats may also be removed because of adverse coastal conditions.

An accessible pathway of continuous, sealed concrete extends from the Surf Club right along the foreshore to Edwin Schrag Lookout (approximately 750 metres).
